Safety and trust, built in

Childcare requires trust. Not just in the moment, but in the systems around it.

tend was designed with the belief that safety goes both ways. Families deserve confidence in who is coming into their home. Sitters deserve confidence in the families they work with.

Everything on the platform is built to support that balance.

Safety on tend is supported through verification, clear expectations, and accountability built into every booking.

Vetted sitters

All sitters on tend are carefully reviewed before they are approved to offer care on the platform. Each application is reviewed by our team and includes a conversation with the sitter and reference checks, in addition to credential verification. We look for experience, judgment, communication, and reliability, not just qualifications on paper.

Every sitter must be over 18 and is required to provide:

• a Vulnerable Sector Police Check issued within the last year

• current CPR and First Aid certification

• government-issued identification

Credentials are reviewed as part of onboarding and are monitored over time. Sitter accounts with expired credentials are paused until updated documentation is provided.

Verified families

Safety does not stop with sitters.

Before booking, families provide verified contact information and secure payment details. Every booking is tied to a real account and fully traceable within the platform.

Sitters can book with confidence knowing they are working with accountable households and bookings connected to identifiable profiles.

Clear expectations. Real accountability.

  • Transparency builds trust.

    After each booking:

    • parents rate and review sitters

    • sitters rate and review families

This two-way feedback system helps maintain accountability and supports a respectful community on both sides.

Over time, reviews and repeat bookings help surface sitters and families who are consistently reliable. Patterns of concerning feedback are reviewed by our team and may result in removal from the platform.

  • If something doesn’t feel right, tend provides a way to flag concerns related to a specific booking.

Both parents and sitters can submit a report directly through their tend account, linked to the relevant booking. This allows our team to review what happened with the right context and determine appropriate next steps within the platform.

Reporting is intended for non-emergency situations and helps maintain accountability and shared standards across the community.

In any situation involving immediate risk, emergency services should always be contacted first.

Designed for real life

No system can remove every risk. What tend can do is reduce uncertainty through structure, transparency, and clear expectations.

By verifying both sides, linking care to real bookings, and providing clear paths for feedback and support, tend is designed to make childcare feel more predictable and considered.

Trust is not assumed. It’s built through systems that support accountability, one booking at a time.
